Lange traditionally uses this special alloy in the manufacture of its | plates and bridges. It is composed of copper, zinc, and nickel and is stronger than brass.

The nickel in the alloy prevents oxidation almost completely. The metal does not have to be plated for corrosion-protection reasons and can therefore remain "untreated".
