This function in Lange's chronographs makes it incomparably easy to determine a stopped time: During the measurement, the minute counter advances by one increment precisely after 60 seconds have elapsed. An adjustable switching lever makes it possible to accurately set the jump point of the minute counter without disassembling the movement. Lange was awarded a patent for this invention.
