Helmut Wagner: Every one of us is unique in one way or another. And every engraver has his own handwriting, which distinguishes him from colleagues. In principle, every one of my colleagues is inimitable. Perhaps being able to engrave is something special – but to be honest that is not something I think about. There are many abilities that others have, but I do not. For example, I am a hopeless singer. But you can also be unique if you’re alone in not being able to do something. |

Helmut Wagner: Helmut Wagner: Of course I like to refocus my view into longer distances now and then. Every year, my family and I look forward to our holidays. But it does not have to be the big, wide world. We are enthusiastic about Rügen (an island in the Baltic, editor’s note) and like to go walking or skiing in Austria. |

Helmut Wagner: (laughs) Age has a mellowing effect. I am 49 now. It does not happen often any longer. |
