Uwe Dankert: Lange is the only manufacturer in the world to use a very beautiful, but also very delicate material for bridges and plates: German silver. This material requires additional steps and processes to guarantee quality. To make sure that the movement is completely free of scratches and dust, some German silver surfaces can only be decorated and completed after the basic adjustments have been made. That’s why we take the movement apart again. |

Uwe Dankert: I always knew I’d work in a profession that would allow me to apply my feeling for detail. So after leaving school I started an apprenticeship as a dental technician. But then, the chemicals used there started to affect my health. So I started over and trained as a watchmaker at Lange. |

Uwe Dankert: The most important reason why I work at Lange is that this profession suits me and I like it. I’m fascinated by the tiny mechanisms and share this passion with my watchmaker colleagues. I can’t tell whether this has made me more attractive. (Turns towards his female colleagues) What do you think? |
