For the twelfth year running: commitment to training the next generation of watchmakers
21 August 2008
Specialists are in demand more than ever in different fields. It is no secret that well trained specialists are also being sought in the German watchmaking industry. However, there are hardly any to be found on the job market. A company steeped in tradition like the Saxon watch manufactory Lange therefore has a responsibility to train the next generation of watchmakers, which it has been doing for eleven years now. Thirteen young men and women today begin their three-year apprenticeship as watchmakers or toolmakers at A. Lange & Söhne’s own watchmaking school, which is now entering its twelfth year of training apprentices.

After completing their apprenticeship, they have an excellent chance of landing a steady job and exciting career prospects in a company that is steadily growing and recently recruited its 500th employee. Just like 50 graduates before them, many of whom are now part of the company’s main specialists and demonstrate their ability to assemble complex watch movements and precious objects every day.

A total of 35 watchmakers as well as three toolmakers are currently training at Lange. For a career in watchmaking, you need a good understanding of mathematics and mechanics, skills in precision engineering and a passion for perfection. These are indispensable for manufacturing exclusive A. Lange & Söhne timepieces.
